CDI for the Telecommunications Industry

In: Master Data Management

16 Jun 2012

Telecommunication companies offer various forms of data and voice communication services to individuals and businesses.

These organisations use CDI in order to improve customer service levels. Another reason is that through integrated, complete and accurate information about their customers and relationships they have with the organisation, CDI helps to build customer behaviour information. This information can then be used to provide customers with a more personalised services where appropriate recommendations can be offered and therefore allows for greater cross and up sell opportunities.

These are the main areas how CDI can help telecommunication companies. Other reasons are to facilitate customer self-service such as through the company’s website, detect fraudulent activities as well as consolidate billing and accounts into a single entity per customer.

As you know, a customer might buy different services from the company at different points of time and it would be cost ineffective having to send out separate bills and marketing letters to customers owning more than one account with the same company. Therefore CDI helps to consolidate all the accounts a customer may have into a single account.

Since products and services are at the heart of telecommunication companies, therefore CDI solutions are often implemented together with PIM (Product Information Management) solutions.
